Memories of Aubrey Bush

My name is Aubrey Bush and I joined Dowty Mining Equipment as the Home Sales Manager in 1982 working for Arthur Gray

My start was delayed by the industrial unrest in the mining sector by six months, then, having joined, I was told to stay at home and spend no money due to the Miners Strike!

This lasted a year of staying at home and working elsewhere before we were able to get back to work.

I can’t remember all the staff that were working with us as Engineers but remember well, Terry Weston as Senior Service Engineer also Fred Darlison and Alan Lofthouse in Yorkshire.

Mining was booming and we would be selling 4 new sets and several overhauls of roof supports each year. We put the first electrohydraulic roof Supports into Maltby and Silverwood.

Doncaster area then joined us and as the industry contracted we worked throughout Yorkshire.

Really good times and worked with hardworking people that made it all a success.

Would be happy to remember old times with others.

In 1992 I moved to Australia with Meco International but only stayed with the Company two years before moving on.
