Hello Michael… thank you for your message… we are currently seeking to find out if indeed the clock was originally at Arle Court…we will get in touch soon.
I recently purchased a late 17th Century Marquetry Longcase clock by Joseph Windmills of London which it is claimed by the auctioneers Dukes of Dorchester came from Balladoole House on the Isle of Man. Being the property of late Sir George and Lady Dowty. Can anyone confirm if this clock was originally in Arle Court Cheltenham (Circa 1905 to 1975) or was it always in Balladoole House. I purchased the clock to keep and pass on to my son who lives in Cheltenham. Would just like to compile the history for the future. Thank you.
I am in the process of writing a book an the History of Longwall Mechanization.
This is a fantastic web site for Dowty of which in my 50 years of Longwall Mining I have been involved with starting in South Wales and ending up in the USA.
I have made several comments in various sections of the site.
Thank You.
