That in May 1939, it was only to be expected that much of the specialised hydraulic equipment in the Handley Page Hampden should be entrusted to such an experienced firm as Aircraft Components, Ltd., of Arle Court, Cheltenham.
This company, under the leadership of Mr. George Dowty, designed and supplied the parts necessary for the hydraulic operating units, retracting gear, etc.
