To celebrate the 90th anniversary of the founding of the Dowty Group in 1931, Dowty project archivist Ally McConnell and Sir George Dowty’s son George talk about the life of Sir George, his work as a pioneer of aircraft component technology, and his company which started in a mews loft in Cheltenham and grew into a multinational and diverse organisation. This event will also feature excerpts from Sir George’s memoirs, “In His Own Words”, written by him shortly before his death in 1975 and published in 2020.
