First official Dowty event - a success!

Today (6th September) saw the first event for the Dowty project – hopefully the first of many – which was part of the Gloucester History Festival.

About 35 people came along to the Gloucestershire Heritage Hub to hear a talk on the history of Dowty by Ally McConnell. We also looked at the newly launched website and for the last part of the session people who had memories of Dowty were able to share them with the group.

We found five new potential interviewees for oral history, and had lots of new promises to add material to this website. We can’t wait to see what people share!

Thank you to everyone who came along – it was a really good morning and it was lovely also to see a mix of people who had worked for Dowty and those who were interested in the history of the company.
