The Engineer Magazine of the 7 October 1971 featured Sir George Dowty and the 40th Anniversary of the Dowty Group.
The ensuing decade was to be most successful in the Dowty Group history- turnover rising 7 and profit 8 fold .
Sir George would only witness one half of the decade – he passed away in 1975
After a bright start the 1980 decade was to witness the ultimate decline.
As you will see Sir George was a Eurosceptic before the country joined the Common Market.
