Memories of Jess Cornelius Scrivins

Memories of Jess Cornelius Scrivins

My grandfather Jesse Cornelius Scrivins worked at Rotol after WW1 and was a secretary to management.

I can remember going to the Christmas parties at Rotol in the 1940s when we lived in Cheltenham.

Jesse served in WW1 1916 as a linguist, interpreter and radio operator in France with Royal Garrison Artillery.

Note: During WW1, The Royal Field Artillery  provided howitzers and medium artillery near the front line. The Royal Garrison Artillery manned the largest guns, especially those mounted in coastal and colonial forts. During the First World War (1914-18), the RGA also manned the heavy guns and howitzers on the Western Front.

  • Hi – I think we may be related in a distant way. I think Jesse was my cousin on my Mum’s side (1st Cousin 3x removed). I wonder if we could message at all?
