I worked briefly in the shop making gaskets for steam irons. A peaceful little place near to where railway nuts had their engines and rolling stock. Started making millions of O rings, then into the pit props. Most of the workers were ex-Free Poles who never went home. Pay was about 24 quid a week, cash in a little brown envelope. 1970-71.
