Photographs showing the Cinema at Arle Court which was used for Business Presentations; Safety Films and employee training purposes.
Some memories from the employees who visited there:
I was the resident apprentice projectionist in the mid seventies I hated that Bell & Howell projector I lost count of how many films it chewed up! – Brian Stevens
I remember it well spent many an hour in there during my apprenticeship & in my years at DHU – Anthony Flood
Remember it well, was there 73/4 during my aprenticeship – Bill Kaighan
Spent many hours in there watching mostly safety films in the first year of my apprenticeship – David Mann
Remember “highway to hell” and people fainting – Julian Jones
We frequently used to be herded in there as apprentices to watch training films. Some were so old as to be quite amusing (though they were on serious subjects) – like one showing a 1940s cloth-capped factory worker with a spine strapped to his back, instructing us on how to properly lift things. Or the wartime Dowty Sales film which included the slogan “Watch out Mr Hitler. Dowty’s on your tail!” – John Herring
