Innsworth Metals

Innsworth Metals became a subsidiary of the Dowty Group in 1957 and this site was based at Innsworth Lane, Gloucester.

In 1970, it ceased as a separate company and became the Innsworth Metals Division of Dowty Hydraulic Units.

The site had a foundry, using the Shaw Process, a specialised method of casting metal and also carried out high quality plating and anodising of metals.

The Shaw process is a precision casting process capable of the production of accurate moulds with excellent surface finish and metallurgical integrity.

Moulds are produced using highly refractory aggregates bonded with silica provided by a liquid ethyl silicate binder.

A high temperature firing treatment is a feature of the production sequence and this produces an inert mould into which the majority of commercial ferrous and non-ferrous alloys can be cast with confidence.

In 1969 Innsworth Metals had 120 employees
